Slam Poetry is a competition invented in the 1980s in which performed poetry is judged by five members of the audience.
Perform because you love poetry.
Compete to win.
Peform to be free.
Make the team.
Peform because it's fun.
Its all love. Its all poetry.
Compete on slam nights. Scroll down to see the rules.
Place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to receive 1 qualifier per slam.
Once you receive 5 qualifiers, you will be invited to compete in the GRAND SLAM.
DO NOT BE SWAYED BY THE AUDIENCE. Score each poet by the same criteria, ignoring whatever boisterous reaction your judgement elicits.
SWAY THOSE JUDGES! Let them know how you feel about the job they are doing. Be respectful in your exuberance; there could be no show without them.
